Monthly Automatic Payment Plan
Nelnet Business Solutions (NBS) For students, parents, or other payers wishing to pay a bill on a monthly basis, the University of Cincinnati offers payment plans via Nelnet Business Solutions (NBS). Such plans provide an option for those persons who can not pay the entire bill by the bill due date. There is a small enrollment fee for each plan.
Before Signing Up Before creating payment arrangements with Nelnet, the student, parent, or other payer needs to determine the necessary payment amount to pay a bill in full. (Click here to view your bill.)
For example, consider this autumn quarter bill:

Balance Due: |

| In the above example, $1,200 is required to pay the quarterly bill in full. If the payer opts to enroll in the plan by the early enrollment date (e.g., September 3, 2009), Nelnet will divide this amount into three monthly payments of $400. This does not include the payment plan enrollment fee. These payments are due to Nelnet according to the schedule on the right.
Please Note: A common mistake made by payers is not providing Nelnet with the right budget amount needed. The payer then assumes the bill will be paid in full; however, such mistakes can lead to late payment fees (assessed by the university) and service blocks. Again, using the example above, consider if the payer informed Nelnet only $1,000 was required. This would leave the sample bill with a balance due of $200. ($1,200 - $1,000 = $200). Because there is a balance due, the bill is subject to late payment fees and service blocks.
Enrollment Process and Fees Once you have determined your correct budget amount, read the rest of the information on this page and click on the statement in red at the bottom. This link will take you directly to the Nelnet web site. You are strongly encouraged to sign up by the earliest enrollment deadline to avoid any additional fees on your tuition bill. Please note the Nelnet enrollment and payment deadlines on the right side of this page.
The Nelnet payment plan is an interest free plan, but there is an initial enrollment fee. The enrollment fee for quarter plans is $19. The enrollment fee for law/semester plans is $29.
All of your payments will be made directly to Nelnet by automatic withdrawal (ACH) from a checking or savings account. ACH payments are automatically deducted the 5th day of each month in the plan. If the 5th day of the month falls on a weekend or a holiday, the withdrawal will be made the following business day. If a payment is returned because of insufficient funds you will be charged a $25 return fee.
How the Nelnet Payment Plan is reflected on the bill Once the payer completes the Nelnet payment plan agreement, Nelnet will communicate to UC that the student has a Nelnet payment plan. Within a couple of business days the student's bill will reflect a "Nelnet Payment Plan Budget". Once UC receives your first payment from Nelnet you will see "Payment(s) Received from Nelnet Payment Plan" appear on your student bill. As payments are received by UC the budget on your bill will be reduced accordingly.

The remaining Nelnet budget is $800. The budget and payment amounts will change as payments are received from Nelnet. Please note: UC only receives payments from Nelnet twice a month so your Nelnet payments may not be reflected on your student bill for several weeks after you make the payment. To confirm your payments were received at Nelnet please check your "MyFacts" account for more payment info.
Person Responsible For Payment and Additional Authorized Party During the payment plan enrollment process students will be asked to list personal information for the "person responsible for payment" (the "Responsible Party"). This can be a parent or anyone else, if not the student. Additionally, the student can authorize another person to inquire about all account information and to make changes to the account on behalf of the Responsible Party.
